Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts

Brand, identity, and website design for Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts, a massive performing arts and music multi-venue in Oakland, California. With a 99-year contract between the City of Oakland, Orton Development Inc., Orton Entertainment, and the board at Henry J. Kaiser, I worked directly with the HJK Arts Project Manager, Dru Cowan, and CEO, Nate Cornejo, to create a massive website, brand, logo, icons, infographics, patterns, and more. The HJK Arts building is right next to beautiful Lake Merritt, and absolutely incredible with a rich history. Decked out with a 6,000 seat arena, 4,000 seat theatre, 3 ballrooms, several office spaces, multiple outdoor plazas, and lots more to come. We started the project in 2023, and it’s still undergoing a massive amount of changes over time, as things shift and grow. Since it first opened as the Oakland Auditorium in 1915, the building has housed countless performances and cultural events, from Winter pageants, to Grateful Dead concerts, to speeches by figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It’s been an honor to be an on-going part of this project, and the history of Oakland at large. This is the largest project I’ve ever been a part of and I could not be more proud.
